Become a Teaching Artist at the DRAW.

The Department of Regional Art Workers, (D.R.A.W.) is accepting proposals for two workshop programs: Materials Exploration  and Meet the Artist Program. Each  program is designed to operate as research for D.R.A.W., teaching artist and participants, as we grow our studio offerings.

Materials Exploration:   A series of individual, 2 hour, workshops for community members 14 through adult. These mini-workshops will help to inform future programming for multiple day workshops and teaching artist, workshop series, proposals. Each mini-workshop will pay $50. Materials , space , equipment and marketing will be provided by the D.R.A.W..

Meet the Artist Program: If you are interested in developing programming or offering workshops with children, youth or teens at the D.R.A.W., we request that you schedule a Meet the Artist workshop for one of our free, Teen Open Studio dates.(Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30) This is an unpaid  community enrichment series. (An intro workshop will give you an informal opportunity to check out the space, and it will give us an opportunity to see where you might best fit into our programming.)

A Meet the Artist session might include you introducing your practice, your career path, your connection to the local community and a demo of some process or material you would like to share.

* If you have not taught a workshop and you are a practicing maker, this is a great opportunity to introduce yourself and your work in a small group setting. We have created lesson plan guidelines and we are happy to coach your presentation.

Proposals from instructors, for both workshop programs, will be reviewed by a committee of D.R.A.W. members. Instructors will be considered based on a combination of factors including teaching and/or maker experience and the quality of their body of work. As we move forward, workshops will be scheduled with consideration for community needs and interests, facility availability, and price.
