You will be introduced to the fun and versatile process of pronto plate printmaking. Pronto plate is an accessible, quick lithographic method that doesn’t require chemicals, acids, or expensive materials. Pronto plates can either be drawn on with sharpies, crayons, or ballpoint pens, hand painted with India Ink, or run through a laser printer or Xerox copier. The final results have the potential to be colorful, immediate, densely layered, and experimental, and to demonstrate a mix of photographic, digital, gestural, and painterly marks.
Each student should bring 2 digital files on a flash drive (black and white),photographs, illustrations, or scanned drawings. We will add color by hand in class!
Sharon Lindenfeld is a New Paltz based artist who makes large-scale prints that depict dreamlike, abstract landscapes.
