The D.R.A.W.’s new space has been officially settled into and named the Neighborhood Print Studio. Sitting at 49 Greenkill apt 1, in Kingston, the space is open from Monday through Thursday from 1 to 6 for anyone to walk in and make use of. It can also be utilized on Friday by appointment. It is the newest pride of the D.R.A.W., a symbolic culmination of our efforts to provide the arts to the public. We are grateful to be able to share it.
The centerpiece of the new print studio is a printing press from Communications Village, one that once belonged to Ben Wigfall. It had long been on standby, as Ben himself had wished for it to only be given to a program that works for the community. The D.R.A.W. follows his ideals, and so we have his iconic press in our new studio. We’re honored to be able to house it and work with it through the wishes of Ben Wigfall.
Within the Neighborhood Print Studio is a library of an art book collection that people can check out at their leisure. In the back of the space is also a collection of zines, many made by local artists. Beyond printmaking, the studio is stocked with an extensive amount of mediums and art supplies. It feels like a proper center of the arts right near the heart of Kingston. It’s a gift for me personally to be a part of this.
We recently had an opening for the studio. I was once again humbled by the sheer amount of people in support of the success of the D.R.A.W. and PUGG. The turnout was evidence enough that the Neighborhood Print Studio will succeed with flying colors. Please look forward to future D.R.A.W. events held in the new space! We’ve begun a meaningful new era.
