Glass Jaws

This show is a collection of images I’ve been working with recently. Glass Jaws refers to the idea of being vulnerable, fragile, and an easy target. It is a symptom familiar to boxers and windows. The works are manipulated silkscreen prints. The manipulation happens during and/or after the print. I use a lot of fragile Japanese paper to print on. The prints on glass have a very fragile ink surface. Both surfaces can be easily scratched, smeared and torn. I play with those characteristics to push the image into something else, something away from the original starting point.
